Can any1 kindly figure out the name of this anime based on my vague descriptions? XD?

ok so.....As far as I remember..this anime was showing on ANIMAX. It was around 2002-4 ...not quite sure....its a erm preety old anime.....In the anime here is a girl who gets mistreated all the time....I think her name was sara (Thats wat i think) ...She was probably locked in a room too.....the anime was set in a early wester-ish place..every1 dressed eraly europian-ish......and erm there was probably a mouse who she fed .....and there was probably a nice guy who she liked........thats as far as I can remembre.....thx again... gd luk figuring this out : )
