Duck Eggs Need HELP!!!?
It does not matter that you touched the egg; you can and should put it back. You should not try to raise a duckling on your own. It is difficult to give it proper nutrition, for one thing, and it will probably suffer and die of malnutrition. Also, a bird in the wild is taught by it's mother how to find food -- they do not know this from instinct. The duckling will not be able to survive living outside in your pond if it's mother does not teach it how. It is also against the law to make a pet of a wild species. But you can still enjoy wild "pets" by observing those that do live in your backyard from a distance. You may even want to buy some binoculars and get a field guide so you can learn about the various birds that visit your yard -- they will begin to feel like old friends as you learn their names and habits. You could be on the way to developing a rewarding lifelong hobby. Have fun!
